During Monday evening’s full commission meeting, Carter County commissioners got to decide which committees they wanted to sit on for the following year.
Committees are arranged by three blocks, A, B and C, and each district assigns one of its three commissioners to sit on one of these three blocks.
Here are the committee assignments as of September 16:
Block A, consisting of the Budget and Nominating Committees, will comprise of Willie Campbell, Patty Woodby, Ronnie Trivett, Isaiah Grindstaff, Ross Garland, Travis Hill, Aaron Frazier and Kelly Collins.
Block B, consisting of the Buildings and Grounds, Rules and Bylaws, Law Enforcement and Health and Welfare Committees, will comprise of Robert Acuff, Mike Hill, Brad Johnson, Austin Jaynes, Ginger Holdren, Randal Jenkins, Ray Lyons and David Miller.
Block C, consisting of the Highway, Education and Landfill Committees, will comprise of Mark Blevins, Nancy Brown, Charles Von Cannon, Jerry Proffitt, Layla Ward, Gary Bailey, Sonja Culler and Robin McKamey.
The commission also voted Ray Lyons to remain as chairman of the commission, with Woody as vice-chair.
The Financial Management Committee took a special vote by full commission. Of its seven members, three of them are required by state law, including the county mayor, the highway superintendent and the county school superintendent.
After a vote for the remaining four members, the Financial Management Committee will consist of Russell Barnett, Kevin Ward, Roger Colbaugh, Travis Hill, Ginger Holdren, Austin Jaynes and Brad Johnson.
