Dorothy Parlier

Dorothy Parlier, 78, of Elizabethton, Tenn., went home to be with the Lord and her late son, Harold, on Sunday, August 11, 2019, from her residence. Dorothy was born in Elizabethton to the late Robert Earl and Lucille Mable Gentry Parlier. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved son, Harold Arnold, and a brother, Robert Dean Parlier.
Dorothy was known as a strongly independent woman who always held herself together, no matter the circumstances. She was very artistic and loved her grandchildren dearly. She had worked at Ivy Hall Nursing Home as an activities director. In her early years, Dorothy had made trips to Nashville and sang on stage, later on she used her beautiful voice to sing at nursing homes for the elderly. She loved to sing and play guitar.
Those left to cherish her memory include a daughter, Tammy Carver of Elizabethton; a son, Tony Arnold of Elizabethton; and one sister, Connie Grindstaff, also of Elizabethton. Several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.
A service to celebrate the life of Dorothy Parlier will be conducted at 7 p.m. Saturday, August 17, in the Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5 until 7 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service. The family would like to especially thank Walter Dail for the love, care and support during Dorothy’s time of need.
