The United Way of Elizabethton/Carter County is excited to announce the organization has expanded to include our neighbors in Johnson County.
The decision to extend operations into Johnson County came after their United Way shut down operations last winter. The United Way helped several local organizations with funding and other partnerships.
“We are so excited for this new chapter at United Way. We are a community that takes care of each other, so we wanted to continue the mission for our neighbors in Johnson County,” says Executive Director Crystal Carter.
United Way will keep true to keeping all dollars local and Carter says that means that money raised in Johnson County will stay there.
According to Carter, “We have set up our financial system that keeps the funds raised in Carter and Johnson separate so that money raised in each community stays to help the people there.”
For the first campaign in Johnson County, United Way has chosen the Johnson County Senior Center, Johnson County Community Center, and Johnson County Cancer Support as partners. “This is our first expansion and we wanted to partner with organizations doing great work in Johnson County and we have found them.”
The campaign season will kick off for United Way Elizabethton/Carter/Johnson on August 10 at the Elizabethton Twins Star Wars night ball game.
Any group or organizations wishing to have the United Way come speak or anyone interested in becoming part of the Johnson County United Way Advisory Board should contact the United Way at Director@uwayecc.org or call the office.
