Gabriel James Dalton Gardner, age 5 months, entered Heaven’s gate on Friday, July 12, 2019, cradled in the arms of his loving mother. He was born on January 18, 2019 to Katie Leigh Gardner and Logan Brock. Gabriel came into this world with his mother’s beautiful hair, his father’s stunning blue eyes and his own radiant smile that warmed our hearts and helped sooth away so many of life’s hurts. Thanks to Katie and Logan’s generosity, plus a little help from Dr. Green, Gabriel shared his birthday with his jubilant Aunt Brooke, who deemed him “The Best Gift EVER!” He was a much prayed for and long awaited blessing to his parents, a tiny companion to his brother Cayden, and an unspeakable joy to his entire family.
Greeting Gabriel and Katie were countless family members including his great-grandfather, Charles Gardner; great-great-uncle, Jim Storie, Gabriel’s namesake; and his paternal great-grandparents, Earl and Linda Mellon Campbell.
Left to cherish his memory are his father, Logan Brock, of the home; his brother, Cayden Gardner, of the home; paternal grandparents, Willis and Donna Brock of Elizabethton; maternal grandparents, JC “Sam” Gardner and Millie Gardner of Roan Mountain; maternal great-grandparents, Glen and Kate Harrison of Roan Mountain; paternal great-great-grandmother, Martha Schramlin of Elizabethton; aunts, Brooke Brock and Breezy Brock of Elizabethton; uncles, Randal and wife Emma Gardner of Elizabethton and Peyton Brock of Elizabethton; great-uncles, Randy Mellon of Elizabethton, Robert Harrison of Jonesborough and Eugene and wife Kim Campbell of Roan Mountain; great-aunts, Sheila and husband Jason Simerly of Roan Mountain, and Nicole and husband Joshua DuVall of Elizabethton; and a special cousin and his family, Gary and Kelly Harrison and their children, Jackson and Kennedy. Numerous cousins also survive.
A combined service for both Gabriel and his mother, Katie, will be held Thursday, July 25, at Tetrick Funeral Home’s Rhododendron Chapel at 1 p.m. with a visitation from 12 noon until 1 p.m. Procession following the service to an interment at Markland Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Peyton Brock, Eugene Campbell, Anthony Campbell, Joshua DuVall, as well as other selected family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Randy Owens and the members of Mike Hubbard’s crew. The Brock family would like to say a special thank you to all of AirTek Construction for the love and support given in our time of need.
