The announcement was made by Andrew McKeehan, President of Carter County Bank, and Chris Guy, Vice President of Carter County Bank.

“Mr. Greene has made a tremendous impact on our community, region, and state throughout his career. His business acumen and generosity are second to none. We felt that the 25th anniversary of the East Tennessee Amateur was the perfect time to recognize him by putting his name on this wonderful event,” said McKeehan.

Greene, Chairman of BancTenn Corp, the holding company for Carter County Bank, was the tournament’s founding sponsor and supporter. Greene said, “It humbles me.  Quite frankly, I was shocked. I didn’t know about it until they came down to the bank and told me.  I personally don’t think I deserve it.

“There are so many other people involved who deserve the same thing. I want to thank all of the people who had anything to do with it. I appreciate it.”

Tournament Director, Mike Matheson, said “Bill Greene is golf in East Tennessee. What he’s done for ETSU, what he’s done for us … we wouldn’t be here without the bank’s sponsorship.”

The tournament will be on July 5-7th at the Elizabethton Golf Course on Buck Van Huss Road.

Entry fee is $115 for members and $165 for non- members. The fees cover rounds each day, lunch, a practice round, range balls, and cart fees.
