The T.A. Dugger Jr. Cyclones were hoping to keep their season alive on Tuesday when they played Vance Middle from Bristol in the loser’s bracket final in the Big 6 middle school tournament.

After grabbing a 3-0 lead after two at-bats, the Jr. Cyclones hopes all went South as Vance regrouped to rally for a 10-3 victory.

The big inning for the Jr. Vikings came in the fifth as Vance put six runs on the board to put the game out of reach.

TAD collected seven base hits in the contest led by Nate Stephens, Brayden Buckles, Peyton Johnson, Will Taylor, Brilee Hurley, Kaleb Hambrick, and Hayden Nave who had one hit apiece.

Stephens and Taylor hits both went for a double.

Johnson got the call to start the game on the hill for the Jr. Cyclones and pitched four innings of baseball allowing four runs on three hits. He struck out two Vance batters and walked four.

Andrew Stevens was brought out of the bullpen to relieve Johnson and pitched the final two innings.

Stevens gave up seven hits and allowed six runs while walking one Jr. Viking.
