Lady Rangers prevail in eight innings over UH, 8-7

It was a fierce battle, but in the end, the Unaka Lady Rangers prevailed over the visiting University High Jr. Lady Bucs by an 8-7 score.
With the scoreboard reading 4-3 in favor of Unaka heading to the top of the seventh inning and the Jr. Lady Bucs batting, the visitors managed to put four runs on the board to take a 7-4 advantage.
However, the Lady Rangers were having none of it and responded with three runs of their own in the bottom of the frame to send the game into extra innings tied at 7-all.
With two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning, courtesy runner Kiki Forney raced home on an error by the UH first baseman to seal the victory.
Erika Potter and Lilie Kiser led the Lady Rangers at the plate going 3-for-4 on the day with Kiser taking a pitch yard for a home run.
Madison Pierce added a double and a triple in a 2-for-4 day as well. Alana Parsons, Noelle Collins, and Kailey Wilson chipped in with a hit apiece in the 11-hit Lady Ranger attack.
Kailey Wilson and Sadie Shoun pitched four innings each for Unaka with each striking out three Jr. Lady Bucs.
