Roundup: Lady Rangers go 2-1 Saturday

The Unaka Lady Rangers picked up two wins during Saturday’s Science Hill softball tournament.
After falling to Farragut 8-0, Unaka topped Cloudland, 18-7, and Happy Valley, 15-2.
In their win over Cloudland, Tayla Potter led the way as she collected six RBIs. Potter had a three-run homer and a two-double during two-hit outing.
Unaka’s Madison Pierce, Erika Potter and Noelle Collins all two hits each. Erika Potter and Collins both finished with two RBIs each while Kiser finished with three RBIs.
Cloudland’s Jasmine Birchfield had three hits and two RBIs against Unaka while Krisi Bare had two hits and two RBIs.
Unaka’s Kailey Wilson worked four innings in the circle. Wilson had a strikeout against one walk. Wilson finished with then hits and seven rush against her.
During their win over Happy Valley, the Lady Rangers saw two players collect home runs as Alana Parsons hit a three-run homer out of center field in the fifth. Unaka’s Kendall Bare also had a solo home run in the contest.
For Unaka, Sadie had three hits and one RBIs.
Wilson had four innings of work in the circle as struck out three batters. Wilson finished with four hits and one run against her.
Tonight, the Lady Rangers will host Cloudland in a Watauga Valley Conference matchup.
Cyclones drop contest to Arab
The Elizabethton, after falling behind 5-1 after one, couldn’t overcome Arab, losing 8-7.
The Cyclones had 11 hits in the game with Karson Dillard, Bryson Rollins, Matthew Dailey, and Lawson Wagner all having two hits each. Dailey finished with two RBIs, while Evan Carter and Dillard each had an RBI. Elizabethton Jaden Anderson, Carter and Dillard all had doubled.
Carter (1 IP, 4 hits, 5 runs, 2 Ks, 1 BB), Lawson Wagner (2.1 IP, 4 hits, 3 runs, 4 Ks, 2 BB) Nico Ashley (3.2 IP, 4 hits, 2 Ks, 2 BB) all saw time on the mound for EHS.
