Potter collects six RBIs in Lady Rangers win; Cloudland rolls past Sullivan North

The Unaka Lady Rangers have scooted past their first three opponents this season.
Thursday, the South Greene Lady Rebels fell victim to the Lady Rangers hot bats.
Unaka, behind 16 hits and 12 RBIs, dominated South Greene, 12-2. Swinging the heaviest bat was senior Erika Potter who hit two three-run home runs for a total of six RBIs.
Lady Ranger Madison Pierce was the most effective as she went 3-of-3 and scored four runs. Unaka’s Sadie Shoun, Kendall Bare, Potter, Kailey Wilson, Taylor Potter, and Sarah Elliot all had two hits apiece. Bare finished with two RBIs while Elliot had a double.
On the mound, the Lady Rangers saw five innings from Wilson who struck out three batters with one walk. Wilson finished with two runs and eight hits against her. Shoun pitched the final inning and had one strikeout with a hit against her.
Lady Highlanders top Sullivan North, 9-0
The Cloudland Lady ‘Landers picked up another Watauga Valley Conference victory Thursday as they defeated Sullivan North, 9-0.
Inside the circle, Cloudland’s Kenzie Birchfield crafted a shut out. Birchfield struck out two batters with no walks and gave up six hits.
At the plate, Cloudland’s Kaylen Fields went 2-of-4 with four RBIs, while teammate Jasmine Birchfield was 1-of-4 with four RBIs. Cloudland’s Heaven Caraway also had a productive day at the plate as she collected three RBIs on one hit.
Lady Cyclones, Bulldogs suffer shutouts
The Elizabethton Lady Cyclones and the Hampton Bulldogs both didn’t have much luck with their Thursday opponents.
The Bulldogs fell 11-0 at Johnson County while Elizabethton loss 12-0 to Richlands.
