Kassi Butcher pitched the Milligan College softball team to three wins last week and was honored as the Appalachian Athletic Conference pitcher of the week. The AAC announced the award Monday for the week ending March 3.

Butcher went 3-1 in four appearances inside the circle during the seven-day span. Tuesday saw the senior from Arden, North Carolina, toss a shutout against University of Pikeville, and Butcher followed with two more complete games over the weekend. In all, Butcher threw 22.0 innings and struck out 10 while walking only four. She posted an earned run average of 1.59.

Butcher’s results last week helped her move to 3-3 on the season and lower her ERA to 3.92. Milligan has been on a similar tear as a team, winning five of the last six games and opening the AAC season at 3-1. This was Butcher’s second career AAC weekly honor, following winning AAC pitcher of the week midway through last season.
