Lavonne Gentry

Lavonne Gentry, 81, of Piney Flats, Tenn., went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 11, 2019. She had taken care of her grandsons and loved her great-grandchildren very much. Lavonne was an avid sports fan of the Tennessee Vols and the Atlanta Braves. She was a longtime member of Edgefield UMC and enjoyed going to the Story Telling in Jonesborough with her friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Joe Gentry; her parents, Gladys Irene and Frank Earl Warren; and her sister, Frankie Warren.
Those left to cherish her memories include her daughter, Tammy Berry and husband Mike; grandsons, Chris Berry and wife Angie and Andy Berry and wife Lauren; and great-grandchildren, Weston, Camden and Ella.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 13, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Edgefield UMC, Piney Flats, Tenn. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. at the church with Rev. Estel Williams officiating. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, February 14, at 10 a.m. at Edgefield UMC Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chris Berry, Andy Berry, Terry Widener, John Weaver, Scotty Higgins and Ken Brown. The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of NHC Healthcare of Johnson City, “who treated her like family,” Allen Shipley, who was her Bingo Buddy, and Terry and Lynda Widener, for their weekly visits.
