Happy Vally’s Adrienne Henegar scored 19 of her 33 points in first half, and the Lady Warriors seemed on track to a Three Rivers Conference victory over Sullivan South.
However, South’s Alex Harris and the Lady Rebels had other plans. Harris would knock down seven 3-pointers and score 31 points. Harris’ final trey of the night came in overtime to allow the Lady Rebels a 69-66 comeback win over the Lady Warriors.
Heading into the half, Happy Valley held a 33-23 lead and still held an eight-point edge, 45-37 heading into the fourth quarter. Henegar had six points in the third while teammates Tianna Long, Shay Whitson and Emily Lunceford each posted two points each in the period.
The Lady Rebels opened the fourth with a trey from McKenzie Littleton that opened up a seven-point run that allowed South to cut HV’s lead to 45-44. A trey from Henegar and a pair foul shots from Whitson gave HV a 55-49 lead late in the fourth. A 3-pointer from Harris sparked a 12-point rally by South as they took a 61-56 lead with time getting low. However, Henegar connected on another three before going to the foul line with no time left to send the game into overtime tied up at 61-61.
Harris would hit back-to-back 3-pointer late in OT to give the Lady Rebels a comeback victory.
In the first quarter, Henegar knocked down three treys and recorded 13 points as the Lady Warriors led South 21-8 heading into the second quarter. HV’s Bailey Ball also had a trey in the opening frame.
As Harris heated up in the second frame scoring nine points, the Lady Rebels were able to outscore Happy Valley 15-12 in the period. Two more 3-pointers from Henegar in the second would keep the Lady Warriors ahead heading into the half.
The Warriors are now 4-7 in the TRC while South improved to 7-4.
Whitson finished with 16 for the Lady Warriors while Olivia Absher had 6.
