Virginia Dare Marley

Virginia Dare Marley, 98, of Elizabethton, Tenn., passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2019, at Hillview Health Center. She was born in Atlanta, Ga., on May 7, 1920 and was a daughter of the late George Forest Marley and Ada Goodwin Marley.
Ms. Marley retired after 42 years of service from the Twisting Department at North American Rayon Corporation. She was a member of East Side Freewill Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
Those left to cherish her memory include two sons, James Phipps and wife Rachel, Elizabethton, and Joseph Phipps and wife Mary of Pennsylvania; two grandsons, Tim Phipps, Elizabethton, and Joey Phipps of Pennsylvania; two great-grandsons, Joel and Josh Phipps of Pennsylvania; and a sister, Ruby Matherly, Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
An entombment service to honor the life of Virginia Dare Marley will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, February 1, in the Mausoleum of Peace of Happy Valley Memorial Park with Rev. Justin Deaton officiating. Everyone attending the service is asked to meet at the cemetery at 12:50 p.m. Friday. The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff of Hillview Health Center, especially Martha Moore, for the loving care given to Ms. Marley.
