Robert “Marty” Joyce

Robert “Marty” Joyce, 66, of Johnson City, went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, January 22, 2019, at Holston Manor in Kingsport. He was a native of Hendersonville, N.C., and son of the late Joseph Robert Joyce Jr. and Mae Elizabeth Cardwell Joyce.
Marty proudly served his country in the U.S. Army where he served in the 504th MI Brigade at Fort Hood, Texas. After serving in the Army, he moved to Memphis, Tenn., and raised his family. He worked as a Computer System Engineer for a small chemical plant. When he retired, he moved to Johnson City, Tenn., where he enjoyed exploring the mountains and enjoyed the beauty of the area.
Those left to cherish Marty’s memory include his loving wife of 38 years, Barbara Allen Joyce; his son, Allen Joyce and his wife Erica; grandchildren, Wyatt, Allison and T.J. Joyce; and a sister, Beth Fisher and her husband Tim.
The family would like to offer a special thank you to Marty’s caregiver, Sharon Andes, for the loving care provided during his illness.
The family will greet friends to share memories on Saturday, January 26, from 4 until 6 p.m. in the Sunset Room of Tetrick Funeral Services, Johnson City. A celebration of Marty’s life will be held on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. in the Sunrise Chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Tim Tapp officiating. A graveside and committal service will follow the service on Sunday at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
