Larry Vaughn Caldwell

Larry Vaughn Caldwell, 66, of Elizabethton, passed away Thursday, January 10, 2019, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital after a brief illness.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Rex V. Caldwell Sr. and Zora Honeycutt Caldwell Slate.
Larry served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. He was a retired employee of the Watauga Valley Regional Water Authority and was a former employee of the City of Elizabethton. He was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church but attended Beck Mountain Baptist Church. Larry was a NASCAR fan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Glen Morgan and Randal Caldwell, and a great-granddaughter, Stormie Ward.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Angie and Robert Jarrett, Jonesborough; two granddaughters, Kelli Hall and fiancé Todd Smith and Kacie Jarrett and fiancé Bradley McDowell; four great-grandchildren, Liam, Lincoln, Lane and Lily; one sister and brother-in-law, Sandra and Danny Tolley, Elizabethton; one niece, Jennifer Moore and fiancé Casey Burgess; two great-nephews, Daniel and Nathan; one uncle, Gene Honeycutt; one aunt, Ethel Snyder and husband John; and several special cousins.
Funeral services for Larry Vaughn Caldwell will be conducted at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, January 13, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ronnie Campbell officiating. Music will be provided by Rev. Ronnie Campbell. The graveside service and interment will be at 3 p.m. Monday, January 14, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 2:20 p.m. Monday, will be Wesley Snyder, David Snyder, Steve Lohr, Bradley McDowell, Daniel Matheson and Robert Jarrett. Honorary pallbearers will be Gene Honeycutt, Joe Street, Danny Tolley, K.O. Gentry and former employees of the Watauga Valley Regional Water Authority. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to Dale, Jackie, Joy, April, Kim, and his loafing buddies at Greer Market for being such a good friend to our dad and brother. Military Honors will be provided by the Carter County Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Larry to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or the Southern Appalachian Ronald McDonald House, 418 N. State of Franklin Road, Johnson City, TN 37604. The family will receive friends from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
