Frances Steffey Taylor

Mrs. Frances Steffey Taylor, 91, of Elizabethton, passed away on Sunday, December, 30, 2018, at Ivy Hall Nursing Home. Mrs. Taylor was born in Grossclose, Va. She was a member of First Christian Church of Elizabethton and was the daughter of the late Irvin and Minnie Myrtle Horne Steffey.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Henry Taylor; five brothers, David Steffey, Garnett Steffey, Ralph Steffey, Ivan Dean Steffey and Roy Steffey; four sisters, Gladys Colbaugh, Ruby Steffey, Inez Fortuanato and Mable Virginia Crowe; and one infant grandson, Michael Lynn Woods.
Mrs. Taylor was previously employed at Kennametal, Bemberg Corporation and at North American Rayon Corporation. She loved to be outdoors and enjoyed working in her garden, and especially spending time with her family.
Those left to cherish her memory include a daughter, Pat Woods and her husband Gary of Elizabethton; three grandchildren, Nathan Taylor Woods and his wife Jennifer, Vanessa Mink and her husband Lucas, and Veronica Stout and her husband Eric, all of Elizabethton; eight great-grandchildren; a special nephew, Joseph Harvey Crowe of Elizabethton; a special sister-in-law, Florine Taylor of Telford; and a special friend, Chris Dotterwich of Johnson City. Several other nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Receiving of friends will be held in the Riverside Chapel at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, on Tuesday, January 1, from 2 until 3 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life service at 3 p.m. conducted by Mr. John H. Smith, minister. Music will be provided by Tony Rominger, Scott Reynolds and Mary Smith. Friends may also call at the residence of her daughter, Pat Woods, at any time. The graveside service will be held on Wednesday, January 2, at 11 a.m. at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Dr. David Mills officiating. Active pallbearers will be Butch Taylor, Joseph Harvey Crowe, Nathan Woods, Lucas Mink, Eric Stout, Bodhi Mink and Keats Mink. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Ivy Hall Nursing Home, Amedisys Hospice, Alan Forbush, MD, Dr. Ahmed Kahn, Dr. Victoria Shankle and Kami Meade, FNP, for all the loving care shown to Mrs. Taylor.
