Fields are flooded off of Bear Cage Road in Roan Mountain.
Numerous roads were closed and some Carter County residents had to evacuate their homes as rain brought flooding to the area Friday.
Carter County Emergency Management Director Gary Smith said that the waters were beginning to recede at roughly 4:45 p.m. yesterday afternoon.
Some of the areas affected were Hampton, Roan Mountain and Valley Forge.
Smith also said that constables and neighbors were helping people get out of homes that were being surrounded by the flood waters. See more pictures on page 2A.
