Star Photo/Delaney Scalf Flood waters start to reach some homes between Rittertown Road and Highway 19E in Hampton on Friday evening.

Numerous roads were closed and some Carter County residents had to evacuate their homes as rain brought flooding to the area Friday.

Carter County Emergency Management Director Gary Smith said that the waters were beginning to recede at roughly 4:45 p.m. yesterday afternoon.

Some of the areas affected were Hampton, Roan Mountain and Valley Forge.
