Like many other high school teams throughout the country, the Hampton Bulldogs find themselves playing in a holiday tournament at Harriman High School and Thursday turned out to be a profitable day as the ‘Dogs took a 13-point victory over Sunbright, 59-46.

Hampton fell behind 13-10 after one quarter but managed to pull it together offensively to take a 30-22 lead at intermission.

Morgan Lyons paced the Bulldogs with 7 points in the half. Matt Hughes helped to build the lead by collecting 5 points while Izaak Hill and Caleb Oaks scored 4 and 3 points respectively.

The ‘Dogs continued to build on the lead in the third quarter as Hughes poured in 10 points to turn the eight-point lead into a 49-35 heading into the final period of play.

Sunbright managed to win the fourth quarter 11-10, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the big Hampton lead.

Hughes took game-high scoring honors with 19 points in the contest. There was plenty of scoring help as eight other Bulldogs hit the scoring column.

Lyons finished the contest with 9 points while Oaks collected 7 points. Five points apiece were added by Mitchell Tolley and Rocky Croy.

Hill (4), Garrett Vines (4), Jordan Bentley (4), and Jonah Jones (2) helped to push the Bulldogs to the win.

Bunch scored 17 points to pace Sunbright with Bohannon dropping in 16 in the losing cause.
