Cloudland picks up pair of conference victories

Behind two double-digit performances by Cloudland’s Trinity Vines and Stacia Wilson, the Lady Highlanders rolled to their first conference victory Friday night.
Vines led with 15 while Wilson totaled 14 as the Lady ‘Landers topped Sullivan North 63-22.
At the end of the first quarter, the Lady Highlanders had marched out to a 12-4 as both Cloudland’s Kenzie Birchfield and Megan Lunsford had knocked 3-pointers in the period.
By the end of the second period, Cloudland etched in a 30-16 lead over North heading into the half. Wilson totaled eight points for Cloudland in the first half. The second quarter saw Vines hit a bucket and a trey while Ambrien Blair knocked down a trifecta to help her team’s cause.
It was the Vines’ show in the third as she knocked down ten points in the period. The Lady Highlanders would outscore North 23-0 has Cloudland locked down its defense.
Cloudland’s Gracie Freeman added in seven points in the game, while Blair, Kenzie Birchfield and Lunsford all had five. Lady Highlanders Kyla DeYoung posted four along with Mandy Benfield and Jasmine Birchfield.
(Boys) Cloudland 70, Sullivan North 39
Just like the Cloudland girls, the Highlanders picked up a big win Friday night.
Topping Sullivan North 70-39, Cloudland picked up its first conference win of the season.
For Highlanders, Shell led the way with a game-high 18 points.
Shell was followed up by Robert Leeper who posted 13. Bently Gilbert finished the night in double-digits also as he scored ten.
