After a season that saw the Lady Cyclones take second in a tough Three Rivers Conference and collect 24 wins, tying the program record, the Elizabethton volleyball program saw honors come its way.
At the top of the list were senior Sydney Goodsell and junior Morgan Smith.
The Three Rivers Conference selected Goodsell as co-player of the year along with Sullivan South’s Maddie Townsend.
“Sydney made plays for us night in and night out and deserves recognition as Co-Player of the Year,” said EHS head coach Leslee Bradley. “ She did a little bit of everything providing both offense and defense and was really a thorn in the side for our opponents.”
Smith played her way to a co-setter of the year alongside Sullivan Central’s Laiken Hoback.
“Morgan was a huge offensive weapon for us and gave our hitters great sets in just the right spots all season long,” said Bradley.
Elizabethton’s Deanna Hull, Macey Burleson, and Mattie Davis made the all-conference team, while Lady Cyclone Hannah Boster made the all-conference honorable mention team.
“Deanna, Macey, Mattie, and Hannah had very consistent seasons providing key plays at crucial moments of matches,” said Bradley. “ From runs behind the service line to huge hits to timely blocks and digs they all played very consistently to help us secure second place in the Conference and a trip to the Regional tournament. I am super proud of each of them.”
Elizabethton, after finishing second during the District 1-AA Tournament, fell during the opening round of the region tournament to Greeneville in a close 3-2 match.
