Robert “Bob” Lee Hooks

Robert “Bob” Lee Hooks, 74, of Chuckey, passed away on Friday, September, 28, 2018, at his home. He was born in Washington County and was a son of the late Paul Eugene and Sarah Ellen Bryant Hooks. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Janet Gail Monroe Hooks, and a dear family friend, Krissy Taylor.
Mr. Hooks served in law enforcement for over 35 years. Almost 25 of those were spent at the Carter County Sheriff’s Department, where he retired as a Lieutenant in 2006. He was of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Hooks was interested in raising horses and donkeys on his ranch. He loved the outdoors and taking long drives in the country. He was a veteran, having served his country in the United States Army.
Those left to cherish his memory include a son, Frank Hooks (Shannon) of Kingston, Tenn.; two daughters, Angela Nease (Michael) of Parrotsville, Tenn., and Nesha Wagner (Michael) of Jonesborough; four granddaughters, Gail Hooks and Kelli Hooks, both of Kingston, Jennifer Foster and Sarah Foster, both of Johnson City; four brothers, David Hooks (Carolyn) of Elizabethton, Raymond Hooks (Becky) of Johnson City, Clay Hooks (Ruth), also of Johnson City, and Arnold Hooks (Mescal) of Milligan College; and two sisters, Margaret Hooks and Katherine Hooks, both of Johnson City.
A service to honor the life of Robert “Bob” Lee Hooks will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, October 6, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Ernest Widby and Pastor L.C. Tester officiating. Music will be under the direction of Ms. Janel Hooks, soloist. The family will receive friends in the chapel from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., prior to the funeral service. A committal and inurnment service will follow in the Mausoleum Chapel at Washington County Memory Gardens. Military Honors will be accorded by the V.F.W. Honor Guard Post #6975.
