Jeffory Lawrence Neece, 67, of Athens, Ala., passed away on Friday, September 21, 2018. Born January 21, 1951, he was the son of the late William Elwood “Woody” Neece and Etta Jane Neece.
He was preceded in death by his former wife, Sandra Lee Neece.
He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Etta Neece; sister, Cherie; brother, Greg; and niece, Rebecca Proof (husband Steve), all of Lillian, Ala.; wife, Becky (her daughter Ashley and granddaughter Logan) of Athens, Ala.; son, Matt and daughter-in-law Christy, and grandson, Cassius, all of Stoney Creek, Tenn.; son, Willie “Will” and daughter-in-law, Kristen, grandsons, Hunter and Sam, and granddaughters, MacKenzie and Kaydence; and daughter, Amy and son-in-law, Mann.
He is further survived by his widespread military family and numerous partners in crime that have been by his side for countless shenanigans. You know who you are and keep the stories classified.
Jeffory proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1971-1991 as part of the Explosive Ordinance Devices family. After Army retirement, he spent numerous years with the Army Corps of Engineers, then followed his passion for teaching in 1998 when he started at Hazardous Devices School at Redstone Arsenal in Hunstville, Ala. Then in March 2013, he finalized his participation in the workforce. He fully retired to spend time traveling.
He was a devout University of Tennessee Volunteer fan, through the highs and all the trying times of being a Volunteer in North Alabama. He remained a vigilant Vols fan.
He was always proud of his roots in Stoney Creek, Tenn., and has many friends and extended relatives that all loved him and he will be deeply missed.
