Geraldine Hopson Hodge

Geraldine Hopson Hodge, 82, of Elizabethton, passed away Saturday, August 18, 2018, at her residence. She was born September 15, 1935 in Elizabethton to the late Bill and Ailene Nave Hopson.
Mrs. Hodge was a graduate of Unaka High School. She was a Certified Nursing Assistant and retired from Hermitage Nursing Home in 1994. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Hubert Glenn Hodge, and a brother, Arlin Hopson.
Survivors include her children, Steven Hodge (Patty), Elizabethton, Janet Taylor (John), Hood River, Ore., and Brian Hodge, Bluff City; two sisters, Frances Stout, Chuckey, Tenn., and Ruby Vandagriff (Clyde), Elizabethton; five grandchildren, Jeremy Hodge, Piney Flats, Andy Taylor (Victoria), Salem, Ore., Josh Taylor (Laurel), Hood River, Ore., Elizabeth Decker (Kristoff), Fairview, Ore., and Stephanie Rothell (Marcus), Ankeny, Iowa; 10 great-grandchildren; and a special aunt and lifetime friend, Phyllis Gouge, Johnson City. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
A Celebration of Life Service for Geraldine Hopson Hodge will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, August 21, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jamie Ferguson officiating. Music will be provided by Patty Hodge. The graveside service and interment will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 22, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Dennis Depew, Josh Taylor, Jeremy Hodge, Jackie Blevins, Ronnie Stout and Glen Stout. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Ryan Hackett, Dr. David Fenner, Dr. David Mills and members of the Cedar Heights Condo Association. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the donor’s favorite charity. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
