A rainy weekend is in the forecast, but summertime offers a variety of fun things to do despite the rain.
Looking for something to do inside, take a tour of the Carter Mansion or the Sabine Hill House. Tours of the Carter Mansion will be offered Saturday and Sunday at 11 a.m. Tours of the Sabine Hill House will be at 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. There is a $7 charge for the tours. Children 7 to 17 will be charged $3 and those six and under can take the tour free.
Also, the second weekend of “Liberty! The Saga of Sycamore Shoals” will play again this evening and Saturday at 7:30.
Set beside the Watauga River, the story unfolds with Fort Watauga as the backdrop. The outdoor amphitheater provides bench seating with backs and an opportunity to sample great food within a short distance from your seat, at Carter’s Store. General admission tickets range from free for children 5 and under; to $6 for students 6 to 17 years; $11 for seniors 55 and up; and $14 for adults. Members of Friends of Sycamore Shoals may attend the drama any night for a reduced adult/senior admission price of $7.
Of course, there is the weekly car show in downtown Elizabethton Saturday, beginning at 5 p.m.
In between showers, take a ride on the Tweetsie Trail.
