After high marks from its first year, the plans are in place to bring a community-based event back to Covered Bridge Park.

Trampass Hodge, with the Night of Worship (NOW) group, recently announced during a Carter County Community Advisory Board meeting that the organization will host its second NOW event in Elizabethton on Saturday, Sept. 8, from 3 to 9 p.m. at Covered Bridge Park.

NOW offers the event throughout the Tri-Cities. Over the course of the evening, live worship music, games, food, drinks and giveaways are provided to attendees. The purpose of the event, Hodge said, is to come together to lift up “the lost, impoverished and homeless community in Elizabethton.”

According to Hodge, the event is free and open to the public and allows residents to receive resources in a family friendly, faith-based atmosphere.

“Together, we would like to invite all of our local resource agencies that work in fields with any association with these conditions to join us at the event and let us try to help promote your organization,” Hodge said.

Agencies that want to participate are not asked to pay a registration fee. Only requirements are to bring a table, chairs, a canopy and any type of literature to help raise awareness to the group.

NOW partnered with CAB last year as a way to help spotlight the different agencies throughout Elizabethton, Carter County and the surrounding area.

Following last year’s event, Hodge mentioned that event organizers welcomed in over 500 people during 2017’s installment.

Whether it be for financial assistance or addressing needs of children, different organizations took part during the Carter County Advisory Board’s inaugural try at offering a resource fair. Over 10 churches also took part in the evening’s festivities.

Now with the momentum churning, Hodge is hoping to see the event grow even more this go around to assist those in need within the area.

First unveiled at the Bristol Farmers’ Market months ago, the event is geared to helping those in need while promoting community organizations, churches and a sense of togetherness for the area. CAB officials stated during the meeting that they hope to see the event grow as they also look to bolster their presence within the community with a resource fair.
