3-vehicle wreck in Hampton sends 2 to hospital

Two women were transported to a local hospital following a three-vehicle collision Thursday afternoon in Hampton.
The accident happened Thursday shortly after 2:30 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 19E and Highway 321 in Hampton.
According to Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper Bruce Bolton, the driver of a Jeep Compass was attempting to make a left turn from Highway 19E onto Highway 321 when she turned into the path of a Honda CRV that was traveling northbound on 19E.
After striking the Honda, the Jeep then collided with a Chevy pickup truck that sitting stationary for the red light on Highway 321 waiting to turn onto 19E.
After being struck by the Jeep, the Honda spun around and came to rest facing the wrong direction on 19E.
Both the driver and a female passenger from the Jeep were taken to the Johnson City Medical Center. The passenger had to be extricated from the vehicle by emergency medical personnel.
