Billy Ray Miller, 86, of Elizabethton, passed away Thursday, June 14, 2018, at Johnson City Medical Center.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late George W. and Ruth Farmer Miller.
Bill was a graduate of Elizabethton High School. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was an Assistant Fire Chief with the City of Elizabethton Fire Department, having worked there for over 20 years. He was also involved in the Elizabethton Paving Company. He was a member of American Legion Post 49.
Bill attended Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two infant sisters and a brother, Jack Miller.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Maggie Lee Roberson Miller; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Jane and John Brooks, Bristol, Tenn., and Ann and Bob Martin, Washington, N.C.; several nieces and nephews; and two brothers-in-law, Carl Roberson and wife Linda and Richard Roberson and wife Connie.
Funeral services for Billy Ray Miller will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 16, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Bob Shupe and the Rev. Mark Potter officiating. Interment will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Bobby Miller, Robin Honeycutt, Aaron Brooks, Cameron Brooks, Chris Roberson and Jacob Street. Honorary pallbearers will be Traye Harrison, Ray Lewis, Randy Lewis, Roger Ledford, Johnny Ray Julian and members and former members of the Elizabethton Fire Department.
