Children from the region were able to take full advantage of the Thursday morning sun.
Getting an early start on some summer fun, Carter County Drug Prevention Coalition, Elizabethton/Carter County Public Library, Elizabethton Parks and Rec and the Carter County Health Department banded together to offer a field trip day at the Parks & Rec diamonds near the recreation center as a way to promote healthier living and having fun in the outdoors.
The event was part of the Starters Never Start initiative and also allowed children to learn about sun safety and how to stay safe during the spring and summer months.
Over the course of the morning and afternoon hours, children were greeted with kickball, hula hoops, egg races and other types of fun activities.
