Republican nominees for district constables set

County residents selected a number of individuals to serve as elected law enforcement officers for their districts during Tuesday’s County Primary Election.
Each of the county’s eight districts elects two residents of the district to serve as constables. Constables are elected law enforcement officers who serve their local communities and have the same authority of arrest under state law as do sheriff’s deputies and police officers.
Below is a list of candidates who won in each of the districts and will now move on to the County General Election in August. Some of the Republican nominees will be unchallenged during the General Election, while others will face challenges from Independent Candidates.

* One candidate qualified as a Certified Write-In candidate for the office of constable in the 8th District — David Campbell. Write-in votes will be counted by the Canvasing Board, which will meet Wednesday morning to begin counting the write-in votes. The winner for the second slot as Republican Nominee for Constable of the 8th District will not be announced until after the Canvasing Board completes the county.
