Behind a hat trick from Cyclones Keelan Hall, Elizabethton rolled past Volunteer, 6-1, Thursday at Citizens Bank Stadium.
Even though Volunteer is a conference opponent, the match didn’t count towards Three Rivers Conference records since the teams had played earlier in the season with EHS winning that match also.
Hall led the way with three goals on the night.
Elizabethton struck early with Cyclones Holston Howard knocking in a goal at the 5:43 mark. Hall followed up with back-to-back goals at 23:40 and 27:27 to give EHS a 3-0 lead heading into the half.
Volunteer got on the board at the 48-minute mark with Johnson Newlan sneaking one in to cut Elizabethton’s lead to two goals.
Elizabethton’s Drew Reagan quickly answered two minutes later with a close-range shot to move EHS up 4-1. Reagan’s goal was followed up by a monster header from Hall that expanded the Cyclones edge to 5-1 at the 57:07 mark.
Cyclone’s Nolan McKinney fired one in from long range to give the game its final, 6-1, tally.
The Cyclones are now 4-6 on the season.
