John David Gitter, 51, of Roan Mountain, passed away Monday, April 23, 2018, at his residence.
A native of Omaha, Neb., he had lived in Roan Mountain for the past three years, moving here from Chicago where he had lived for 20 years.
John was an employee of Lowe’s of Elizabethton. He was of the Catholic Faith.
Survivors include his husband, Michael Eugene Krause; brother-in-law of Mary Lichter, Stephen Krause (Rosa), Catherine Krause; uncle of Royal and Raymond Lichter; his little furry friends, Bella, Blaze and Buddy. He was loved and adored by his many friends and co-workers in the Chicago and Roan Mountain areas and by so many friends in the Elizabethton area. John was a kind, caring, generous and funny guy whose smile will be missed by everyone who knew him.
A visitation for John will be held between the hours of 10 a.m. until noon Saturday, April 28, with a short Prayer Service at the end.
It was his wish to be cremated.
