Who said there’s something wrong with having a little bit of flavor with a morning read?
Students and staff from Milligan College were able to have edible book displays presented in the P.H. Welshimer Memorial Library for the college’s 8th annual Edible Books Festival Monday morning.
Mary Jackson, research and instruction librarian, stated the two-day event is an annual tradition at Milligan with students and staff presenting unique edible arrangements for different books.
Throughout the day, the displays were presented to the public with attendees stopping by to vote for their favorite displays in various categories. Categories include the tastiest, funniest or “punniest”, most creative and overall favorite.
Jackson added that staff will tally votes Tuesday to determine winners. Attendees will also be able to chow down on the different displays.
Milligan hosts their festival in conjunction with the International Edible Book Festival, held annually during the first couple of weeks in April. Over 20 countries have participated in the event, often being shared online, as a unique way to encourage the public to read books at their local libraries.
