The combination of Elizabethton’s Hannah Edwards’ bat and Lady Cyclone Kellie Cunningham’s arm allowed the Elizabethton to pick up its second straight win.
During a pitchers duel that saw a combined 22 strikeouts, the Lady Cyclones were able to fend off West Springfield, 2-0, during day three of the Grand Strand Classic in Myrtle Beach.
The game was scoreless up until the seventh inning when Edwards connected on a 2-RBI single that scored teammates Maci West and Kira Dillard, who had both reached on singles.
Cunningham, working her fourth straight game, tossed for seven innings. Cunningham finished the game with 12 strikeouts with three walks. Cunningham only had three hits against her.
The Lady Cyclones would manage six hits with EHS’s Kaylen Shell going 2-of-3.
