Hampton wins home opener over Cloudland

The Hampton Bulldogs got things done in front of their first home crowd of the season as they topped Cloudland 13-3 in league play Monday.
“I would like to congratulate Cloudland on a much-improved baseball club,” said Hampton head coach Nicholas Perkins. “On our end, I thought it was a total team effort, offensively and defensively. We are looking to continue and improve and grow every day.”
At the mound, the Bulldogs got five innings out of senior Gavin Hardin who had five strikeouts during the contest.
At the plate, the Bulldogs had 13 hits. Hampton’s Hardin and Caleb both had three hits apiece. Bulldogs Dru Owens, Brett Deaton, Oaks, Smith all had two RBIs each.
For Cloudland, Dillion Johnson had two hits while teammate Mark Tester had two RBIs and a hit.
The Bulldogs are now 3-1 overall and 1-0 in league play. Hampton will travel to Cloudland tonight today for game two of the series.
