Cyclones roll past East

The Elizabethton Cyclones got back on track in conference play Monday as they topped Sullivan East 10-0 at Joe O’Brien Field.
Monday’s win over East comes after Elizabethton dropped two games to Sullivan Central last week.
“After last week we were looking to come out and assert ourselves in the conference,” said Elizabethton head coach Ryan Presnell. “Last week, we really put ourselves behind the eight ball. So these guys really relieved some of that pressure tonight in front of the home crowd.”
The Cyclones were led on the mound by senior pitcher Tre Shoun who got in five innings after the slaughter rule was applied. Shoun finished the night four strikeouts against three walks while only giving up two hits and zero runs.
“Our offense really helped me out there getting an early lead,” said Shoun. “My defense really backed me up. They were able to put a lot of balls into play, and our field did a good job.”
The Cyclones bats would record six hits on the night as Elizabethton’s Ryan Wetzel picked up two along with an RBI. The Cyclones Nick Johnson, Evan Perkins, Logan Estep and Evan Carter all had a hit each. Estep and Perkins both finished with two RBIs apiece.
The Cyclones (1-2 TRC) will be at East this evening.
