Junior D. White, 73, of Central Community, died peacefully at home Wednesday, February 28, 2018, with his beloved family around him.
A native of Butler, he was a son of the late W. Frank Miller and Katie Hatley White.
Junior was a 1963 graduate of Happy Valley High School and was employed at Kennametal, Inc., Johnson City, for 40 years. He was a Charter Member of the Central Community Volunteer Fire Department from 1974 to 2017, serving as a fireman and on the Board of Directors. He was a former member of the Carter County Car Club and was a NASCAR fan of Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Jr. He was a member of Brick Christian Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Martha Maupin, Marjorie Montgomery and Linda Darnell White.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Dolores Sams White; his children, William “Bill” White and wife Brenda and Regina Stewart and husband San; his grandsons, Codi Stewart, Wesley Stewart, Avery White, Aiden White, Mitchell Bowers and Michael Rader; his granddaughters, Amber White and Addison White; his great-grandsons, Silas Stewart, Carson Ward Stewart, Ethan Vess, Austin Milhorn, Aiken Milhorn and David Scalf; his great-granddaughters, Abigail Milhorn, Megan Vess, Audrie Vess, Emma and Lyla Irene Stewart; his brothers, Harold Miller and wife Shirley, Bob Miller and wife Norma, Shirrell Miller and wife Shirley and Richard Miller and wife Vera; his sisters, Margaret Hatley, Debbie Lemons and husband Jim and Virginia Peggy Buckner and husband Paul of Maryland; his brothers-in-law, Roscoe “Bud” Sams and wife Rebecca and Jerry Maupin; his sisters-in-law, Lois Bouton, Nancy Whirledge and husband Al, Charlotte Morris, Pat Jarrett and husband Tommy and Sherry Wilson; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Junior D. White will be conducted at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 3, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Mr. Ernie Depew, minister, and Pastor Mark Hatley officiating. Music will be provided by Bobby Miller. Graveside services and interment will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 4, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Amber White, Wesley Stewart, Codi Stewart, Avery White, Aiden White, Mitchell Bowers, Larry Miller, Mark Hatley, John Hatley, Mitchell Bouton, Darrell Bouton and Brad Headrick. Honorary pallbearers will be Claude Buchanan, Tony Eller, Rick Osborne, Billie Joe Buck, Tony Mottern, Lynn Montgomery, Harold Hatley, Butch Jones, John Scott, members of the Central Community Volunteer Fire Department, members of the Carter County Car Club and his church family. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” for taking care of Junior: Dr. F.A. Forbush, Dr. M. Tran, Dr. C. Wiegand, Dr. A. Khan, Dr. Garcia, and HIMA, Fresenius Dialysis Care in Elizabethton. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family at his residence. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 1:20 p.m. Sunday to go to the cemetery.
