Wanda Mae Gobble Carr

Wanda Mae Gobble Carr, 75, of Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, February 24, 2018, at Ivy Hall Nursing Home.
She was born May 27, 1942 in Johnson City to the late Robert and Sarah Edna Fields Gobble. She had lived most of her life in Elizabethton.
Wanda was a retired LPN, having worked at several nursing homes and retiring from Ivy Hall Nursing Home. She was a member of Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Young at Heart Sunday School Class and the Praise Choir. She also sang with the Carr Family Singers.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 17 years, James Albert Carr, who passed away January 16, 1985; two sisters, June Waycaster and Cindy Deloach; and an infant brother, Wayne Gobble.
Survivors include her children, Anita Patterson and husband Michael and Jimmy Carr and wife Melissa, all of Elizabethton, and Wayne Carr and wife Sarah, Mt. Carmel; six grandchildren, Catie Carr, Josh Carr, Tyler Carr, Bethany Patterson, Lucas Carr and Mylee Carr; two great-grandchildren, Samuel and Noah Carr; her siblings, Randy Gobble and wife Jean, Mike Felts and wife Rosie, Jane Tucker and husband Dean and Rick Felts and wife Diedra; and several nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate the life of Wanda Carr will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, February 27, at Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church with the Pastor Randy Johnson, Pastor Mark Potter and her grandson, Pastor Josh Carr, officiating. Music will be provided by the Praise Choir of Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church and Jim and Catie Carr. The graveside service and interment will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, February 28, in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the church at 6:50 p.m. Tuesday and also at the cemetery at 12:50 p.m. Wednesday, will be Josh Carr, Tyler Carr, Mike Patterson, Jeff Underwood, Lucas Carr, Eddie Woods, David Martin and Julius Waters. Honorary pallbearers will be the Young at Heart Sunday School Class, current and former Deacons and Trustees, the Praise Choir and all her church family of Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to Judy and Victor Deloach and the staff of Ivy Hall Nursing Home and Dr. Jonathan Bremer. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery at 12:50 p.m. Wednesday.
