Joan Clawson Rincones, 61, died peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on Tuesday, February 6, 2018, after a brief struggle with cancer. She was born on October 22, 1956, in Elizabethton, Tenn., to Archie and Ilene Clawson, sister to Charles and Michael Clawson.
Joan was born with a colossal talent to sew, making her first masterpiece at the age of six, a one-sided doll dress. This talent flourished into extraordinary home decor masterpieces of custom draperies, pillows and comforters.
She graduated in 1974 from Hampton High School with lifetime memories of her other passion of cheerleading where she served as captain of the team. Joan married Baltazar Rincones in 1979 after moving to El Paso, Texas, and they had three daughters.
She is survived by her husband, three daughters and sons-in-law, mother, two brothers, six grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and numerous close relatives and friends, distant and near.
She was preceded in death by her father, whom she dearly loved, Archie Clawson, and niece, Rachel Clawson.
Services were held Saturday in El Paso, Texas. Honorary pallbearers were the 1971-1974 cheerleading squads.
Though she was taken from us too soon, those touched by her understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time that one lives. We will all miss her beautiful smile, free giving spirit, and unconditional love that she showed every day.
