Ida Brewster Smith

Ida Brewster Smith, 87, of Elizabethton, passed away on Monday, February 12, 2018, at Life Care Center of Elizabethton. Ida was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late Andrew and Emma Williams.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, D.C. Williams, Ernest Williams and Preston Williams, and two sisters, Jane Perry and Goldie Williams.
Ida retired as a nursing home aid and was a homemaker. She was a member of Nidiffer Chapel Freewill Baptist Church.
Those left to cherish her memory include a son, Frederick Albert Brewster III, of the home; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Pauline Oliver of Elizabethton.
A service to celebrate the life of Ida Brewster Smith will be conducted at 6 p.m. Wednesday, February 14, in the Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Pastor Bill Watson officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5 until 6 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the service, or at the residence at other times. The graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 15, in the Buckles Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at the funeral home at 1:15 p.m. Thursday to go in procession.
