Carter County Sheriff Dexter Lunceford announced on Friday that his brother, who had been an officer with his department, resigned from his position after he was indicted on drug charges in Virginia.

“On January 12, 2018, Carter County Sheriff’s Office employee Danny Lunceford resigned his position as an inmate work gang supervisor with this office. He had been employed since July 2015,” Carter County Sheriff Dexter Lunceford said in a released statement. “This resignation was the result of a narcotics indictment out of Wise County, Virginia. His resignation was accepted.”
