Betty Lou Otey

Betty Lou Otey, 74, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, January 31, 2018. She was surrounded by her children and her Hospice crew.
She is survived by her daughter, Betty “Wanda” Otey, and son-in-law, Rodney Henderson of Elizabethton; three sons, Roger Otey, Eddie Otey and Howard “Buck” Otey Jr.; two daughters-in-law, Susan Otey and Sherry Otey; three grandchildren, Howard Otey III, Cathy Ritchey and Dakota Otey; two great-grandchildren, Andrew and Chase Ritchey, all of Bristol, Tenn. She is also survived by one brother, Joe Marchetti of Johnson City, Tenn.
Betty was born in Kentucky, spent most of her life in Harford County, Md., and retired from OTR Truck Driving in Elizabethton, Tenn. She loved the freedom of OTR truck driving, her family, her fur babies, and “Boom Town,” Nevada.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Howard Otey Sr. of Elizabethton, and her granddaughter, Samantha Otey of Bristol, Tenn.
The family wishes to thank “special friends,” Mr. and Mrs. Blevins of Elizabethton for their love and support, Dr. Pack of MSMG in Elizabethton for her unwavering kindness, understanding and loving care, and the “Dream Team” from Amedisys Hospice in Elizabethton, Emily, Gail, Chris, Samantha and Mrs. Sharon, for their kind, compassionate, loving care of Betty.
A small service will be held at the family’s home, and cremation services provided by Restore Life USA of Johnson City, Tenn.
