Ruby Buchanan Baird

Ruby Buchanan Baird, 71, of Watauga, passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2018, at Johnson City Medical Center.
She was born on February 26, 1946 in Johnson City to the late Quince and Ethel Mays Buchanan.
Ruby was a graduate of Science Hill High School and attended Herman Robinson Technical School. She was an LPN, having retired from Asbury Center, Johnson City. She was a member of Watauga Church of God.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Baird, who died May 9, 2001, and a sister, Mary Baker.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Dawn Baird; a grandson, Leonard James “L.J.” Baird; three sisters, Goldie Thurman, Rose Holloway and Linda Hambrick; several nieces and nephews; and also a special friend, Barbara Hamm.
Funeral services for Ruby Buchanan Baird will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, January 15, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Dorothy Hall officiating. Interment will follow in the Scalf Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Robert Baird, L.J. Baird, Charles Buchanan, Don Scalf, Jamie Lovelace and Barry Lovelace. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the staff of the ICU Critical Care Unit of Johnson City Medical Center.
