Hampton splits wins with South Greene

A rally late in the first period gave the Hampton Bulldogs the momentum needed to rush out to a 63-46 win over the South Greene Rebels Tuesday night.
Hampton’s Jaydon Livingston led the Bulldogs with 16 points while teammates Jordan Bentley and Hunter Davenport each recorded 13 points each. Hampton’s Dru Owens finished the night with eight points.
At the end of one, the Bulldogs held a 16-7 lead over the Rebels after an 11-point rally in the final two minutes of the period. Hampton’s Dru Owens and Livingston closed out the first with three-straight 3-pointers with Livingston hitting back-to-back trifectas one of which was a buzzer beater.
Midway through the second period, the Rebels went on an 8-2 run to cut Hampton’s lead to 25-17. The Bulldogs, however, scored six straight down the first half stretch to take a 35-22 lead into the half.
With a 9-2 drive in the opening minutes of the third, the Bulldogs took a 20-point lead, 44-24, with 3:49 left in the quarter. Heading into the fourth, Hampton held a 50-27 lead after six-straight points in the final minute of the quarter.
In the final quarter, the Rebels outscored the ‘Dogs 19-13 before Hampton stayed it’s for a nonconference win.

South Greene 55, Hampton 16
The Lady Bulldogs found open shot Tuesday but couldn’t get anything to fall as the Lady Rebels scooted to a 55-16 nonconference win.
Hampton was without senior Shyanne Tuelle who did not dress out due to an injury.
By the end of the first, the Lady ‘Dogs trail South Greene 21-6 before the Lady Rebels took a 31-10 lead into the half.
Hampton would only manage five points in the third as South Greene lead grew to 49-14 head into the fourth.
The final quarter saw the Lady Bulldogs hit one bucket.
Hampton was led in scoring by Kinzey Hill who posted eight. South Greene’s Taylor Lamb led the game with 22 points.
The Bulldogs will North Greene for a conference matchup Friday.
