In a game where both teams were starving for a victory, the Happy Valley Lady Warriors followed the lead of their experienced players to track and take down the visiting Lady Cyclones in a 62-56 win.

In a nip-and-tuck first half, the Lady Cyclones managed to hustle their way to a 28-20 advantage as Camryn Koroma and Morgan Headrick knocked down seven points each to pace the visitors.

Abbey Townsend and Destiny Little chipped in four points apiece while Kaitlyn Light and Torie Roberts found the bottom of the basket for three points each.

Senior Adrienne Henegar burned the cotton for 12 points in leading Happy Valley with all her points coming from behind the three-point arc.

Tianna Long, Haley Green, Olivia Absher, and Kaitlyn Roberts registered two points each in the opening 16 minutes of action.

Happy Valley’s Roberts came out of the locker room on fire as the reigning MVP of last year’s district champion Lady Warrior team took control of the game and forged her team ahead to stay as the senior lefty swished the nets for 14-straight points to turn a one time, eight-point deficit into a 42-38 lead at the end of three.

Henegar and Long played an active role alongside Roberts tallying four points apiece.

Little kept the Lady Cyclones close with six points while Headrick and Kaylen Shell netted four points in the quarter.

Green, another HV senior, made sure to help keep the Lady Warriors out front with the game winding down to a decision as she sank eight points down the stretch.

Absher, a Lady Warrior freshman, had ice water in her veins from the line as the guard added five of her seven points in the final eight minutes of play.

Henegar was the game-high scorer with 20 points on the night while Roberts finished with 18 and Green 10.

For the Lady Cyclones, Little finished with 12 points to pace ‘Betsy with Headrick and Light contributing with 11 points each in a disappointing loss.

Happy Valley will return to action in January as will the Lady Cyclones.
