Deputies responding to a report of an aggressive dog in Stoney Creek say they found a marijuana growing operation instead.
On Monday, Carter County Sheriff’s Office investigators charged Nama Beaudry, 45, of 253 Bulldog Hollow Road, Elizabethton, with the manufacture of Schedule VI drugs.
On Oct. 5, deputies of the CCSO responded to Bulldog Hollow after receiving a report of an aggressive dog in the area, Carter County Sheriff Dexter Lunceford said.
“During the search for the dog, the deputy observed an indoor marijuana grow inside of an outbuilding behind a residence located at 253 Bulldog Hollow Road,” Lunceford said. “The deputy then made contact with county drug investigators, who in turn obtained a search warrant for the location.”
According to court documents, Deputy Chief Investigator Michael Little and Investigator Sean Huvane obtained the search warrant and then served it at the property.
“Upon execution of the warrant, I discovered approximately 57 marijuana plants growing inside of the outbuilding,” Little said. “A full indoor grow set up was discovered including grow lights and equipment for climate control.”
Through the investigation, Little said he was able to identify the owner of the marijuana growing operation as Nama Beaudry, who owns the property at 253 Bulldog Hollow Road, and determined the plants and growing set up belonged to Beaudry.
Little said he spoke with Beaudry on the day the search warrant was executed and Beaudry admitted to growing the marijuana plants.
On Monday, investigators filed charges against Beaudry with the Carter County Circuit Court Clerk’s Office and serve the charge on Beaudry. A court date for Beaudry was not immediately available on Tuesday, but Beaudry will appear in Carter County General Sessions Court in the future to answer the charge against him.
