Joe C. Britt, 65, of Fall Branch, passed away Sunday, October 8, 2017, at Holston Valley Medical Center, Kingsport. Born September 20, 1952 in Johnson City, to the late Clyde Sinclair Britt and Janet Rita Younce Wilson, he had lived most of his life in Carter County before moving to Fall Branch.
Joe was a retired carpenter. He attended the Gospel Light Tabernacle, Johnson City. Joe loved God, family, woodworking and fishing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Gary Britt and William Hubbard.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Peggy Overbay Britt; five children, Chris and Casey Britt, Lisa Pierce and husband Joshua, all of Elizabethton, Angel Tucker, Pigeon Forge, and Bay Gagne, Fall Branch; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his siblings, Linda Whitehead, Fred Britt and wife Pam, Patricia Cathelyn and husband Jim, Dwight Britt and Maxine Olgin; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Funeral services for Joe C. Britt will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, October 12, at The Lighthouse for Jesus with Pastor Bill Younce and Pastor Daniel Nunley officiating. Music will be provided by Lynual Younce and Joel Younce. The entombment service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, October 14, in the Mausoleum of Peace at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the church at 6:50 p.m. Thursday and also at the funeral home at 9:20 a.m. Friday, will be Joey Franklin, Joshua Pierce, Brandon Pierce, Kaleb Pierce, Justin Pierce, Jerry Harrison, Colbey Britt and Jacob Guinn. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at The Lighthouse for Jesus. Friends may also visit with the family at the home of a sister, Linda Whitehead.
