Mrs. Edith Campbell Sneed, 97, of Elizabethton, Tenn., went to heaven on Wednesday, October 4, 2017, from Sycamore Shoals Hospital. A native of Erwin, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late Joe and Vanessa Daugherty Campbell.
Mrs. Sneed was a homemaker and was of the Christian faith. She loved reading her Bible, gardening and flowers and enjoyed working word search puzzles.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Sneed; three sons, Steve Sneed, Johnny Sneed and Perry Sneed; two daughters, Faye Black and Sharon Hilton; a brother, Henry Campbell; and two sisters, Bertha Burchell and Eleanor Hurt.
Those left to cherish her memory include three daughters, Fern Gentry, Elizabethton, Phyllis Whittemore and husband Gary, Erwin, and Dorothy Casey and husband Charles, Elizabethton; a son, Wayne Sneed and wife Susie, Elizabethton; two daughters-in-law, Brenda Sneed, Hampton, and Debbie Sneed, of Maryland; and a sister, Ruby Perkins and husband James, Johnson City. Several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.
A service to honor the life of Mrs. Edith Campbell Sneed will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday, October 6, in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services with Rev. Shane Whittemore officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday, prior to the funeral service, or at the residence at any time. The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 7, in the Limestone Cove-Campbell Cemetery, Unicoi. Active pallbearers will be Charles Casey, Joseph Casey, Ronnie Michaels, Adam Michaels, David London, Allen Gomez and Gary Whittemore. Honorary pallbearers will be Nikolai Simpson, Steven Berry, Curtis Berry and a special thank you to Kay Goodwin. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Saturday to go in procession to the cemetery.
