Norman E. Gouge

Norman E. Gouge, 77, of Elizabethton, entered into the hands of the Almighty on Thursday, September 21, 2017, from the Johnson City Medical Center. Norman was born in Carter County to the late Howard E. and Opal Grindstaff Gouge.
Norman retired from Raytheon in Bristol and also retired from the Tennessee Army National Guard. He was also a United States Air Force veteran where he was active in the U2 Program and had served in the Vietnam Era. Norman was a member of the Elks Lodge and the Captain Lynn F. Folsom VFW Post 2166. He enjoyed life and being with his friends and family.
Those left to cherish his memory include four sons, Bryon Gouge and wife Pamela, Elizabethton, Gary Gouge and wife Candy, Granite Falls, N.C., Clifford Gouge and wife Linda, Johnson City, and Michael Gouge; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a sister, Sharon Compton and husband Harry, Charlottesville, Va.; and a brother, Bill Gouge and wife Donna, Mt. Holly, N.C. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A service to honor the life of Norman E. Gouge will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday, September 25, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Eric Wright officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5 until 7 p.m. Monday, prior to the service. The graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, September 26, in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded by the Carter County Honor Guard. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 12:50 p.m. Tuesday.
