Leyland Bert Walsh

Leyland Bert Walsh, 100, of Elizabethton, passed away Saturday, August 12, 2017, at Life Care Center of Elizabethton.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late James and Myrtle Walsh.
Mr. Walsh served in the United States Navy during World War II. In earlier years, he was employed at North American Rayon Corporation, then at Carter County Memorial Hospital, and last worked as a watchman at Lakeshore Marina. He was an elder of Carter Christian Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Ethel Howard Walsh, who passed away May 3, 2011.
Survivors include two children, Kay Sapienza, Buffalo, N.Y., and Larry Walsh and wife Dianna, Elizabethton; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
Graveside services for Leyland Bert Walsh will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, August 18, at Butler Memorial Cemetery with Mr. Brent Nidiffer, minister, officiating. Interment will follow the service. Military Honors will be provided by the Carter County Honor Guard. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery at 9:50 a.m. Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Carter Christian Church, 1765 Highway 91, Elizabethton, TN 37643, or to your favorite charity.
