When Sherri Webster decided to put her escape room in Elizabethton, it was because she wanted to add some amusement to the downtown area.

“I am from Elizabethton, and at the time that I came in here to do this, there wasn’t anything down here for kids or anything,” she said. “I thought this would be a great thing to open up for everyone. Just some good, clean fun for Elizabethton.”

Webster’s The Escape Depot, which is located at 547 E Elk Ave, currently has one room called “Dear John”. The room places players right in the middle of a love story gone wrong.

“John is furious that Jenny has left him,” said Webster. “This is inside of a train car, and he has a bomb in there that needs to be disabled. Then you have to escape.”

Trapped inside the train car, players will have just 60 minutes to solve all the puzzles and find their way out.

The process to create The Escape Depot and the “Dear John” room began back in mid-April. Webster along with the help of her brother developed the story of John and his dangerous love for Jenny.

Webster has two more rooms in the works, a casino room and a murder mystery themed room.

Booking is available online at www.theescapedepot.com. The room holds up to eight players and can be fully booked or partially booked.

“Two people can book, and they may be in there with people they don’t know, and they all have a good time,” said Webster.

The Escape Depot, which is open Thursday through Saturday, will be having a grand opening which will start this Thursday and run through Saturday. During the grand opening, Everyone will receive a 15 percent discount; they just have to enter the promotion code GRAND on The Escape Depot website when booking.
